5 reasons to visit Bolzano

Not far from the Austrian border you will find the Italian city of Bolzano, or Bozen in German. Bolzano has a lot to offer us cyclists. Indeed, the whole family will have a great time here.

5 reasons to come to Bolzano

1. Great cycling opportunities

From the city you can ride straight into the mountains. The possibilities for nice routes are endless. Also the famous Dolomite climbs, including the world famous Sella ronda, are just around the corner.

Riders of all ages can explore the more than 2,000 km of fortified mountain bike trails in varying degrees of difficulty. And gravel biking enthusiasts are also fully catered for here. The bike is the most beautiful way to discover the area. If you are not so well trained, rent an e-bike.

There is no reason imaginable not to go cycling here.

2. The vibe of the city

No cycling vacation in a dull mountain village! Bolzano's urban flair offers visitors an urban and stimulating environment. Within just a few minutes you'll be riding in an oasis of calm.

3. Great gastronomy

The cuisine of Bolzano consists of a unique blend of flavors in which Mediterranean ingredients are perfectly combined with Tyrolean ones. Bolzano is also the city of wine with its very old tradition of wine production. Various culinary events are organized, such as:

  • Wine Event - Bolzano city of wine (29-6)
  • Calici di Stelle - Lorenzinacht (10-08)
  • Magdalener Culinarium (02-09)

In Bolzano there is plenty to do. In addition to many stores, restaurants and bars, you will find numerous museums and beautiful castles. Non-cycling housemates will not be bored.

Hiking enthusiasts can enjoy themselves. Because many ski elevators are also open in summer, hiking in the Dolomites is a fantastic undertaking. The number of plotted routes of different levels is endless.
