Five gran fondos in April (with give aways!)

Riding gran fondos, that's something for the summer months, right? Well no, there are also plenty of great gran fondos organized throughout Europe in the (early) spring. Perfect for testing the legs. We list five beautiful events in the month of April. And for most of them we also have a special offer.

1. Granfondo Colnago (April 16)

Beautiful spring gran fondo at Lake Garda. With 138 km and 2010 meters of elevation, the longest distance is challenging enough without being extreme. Perfect to combine with a vacation at Lake Garda.

The gran fondo is part of the Colnago Cycling Festival. A three-day cycling festival with various parts such as a gran fondo, gravel ride, kids race and lots of culinary highlights.

Via CycloWorld you get 50% off a ticket, more info here.

2. Neusiedlersee Radmarathon (April 23)

Austrian hard riding gran fondo with relatively few meters of elevation (only 600 in 125 km). Qualifier for the UCI Gran Fondo Worlds. One day earlier is the time trial which also counts as qualifier for the World Championship.

We have already organized a give away for this event. but we still managed to get one more ticket. You can use this one for the gran fondo or the time trial.

If you want this free ticket, send us an email telling us why exactly you should get it. Do so until Saturday, January 28.

3. Tour d'Energie (April 23)

Looking for a typical German gran fondo, a real Jedermanrennen? Centrally located, car-free and early in the season? With a course that is not too long, not too difficult, but very fast? Perfectly organized and with lots of spectators? Then look no further, because you have just found it.

The event is very popular in Germany, 3000 to 4000 participants are expected.

Choose from two challenging routes. Make no mistake, they may not be as long, but the speed is very high. There will be real racing.

  • 100 km with 1130 m+
  • 45 km with 510 m+
Hohe Hagen, a climb with its own mountain classification. And the best news: the start is between 10:25 and 10:50. No early morning cold.

Would you like to win a free ticket? Then sign up for the give away. Do so through Saturday, Jan. 28. The following day, all registrants will receive an email with further instructions.

4. Gran Fondo Bra-Bra (April 30)

A delicious Italian gran fondo in the hilly terrain between Turin and Genoa. Nice and early in the season, but with good chances to ride in summer conditions already. For many Europeans, it's in the holidays. There is serious climbing to be done. A very nice preparation for the bigger gran fondos.

You ride between the vineyards overlooking the snowy Alpine peaks. It doesn't get much better.

There are 2 routes to choose:

  • Granfondo: 149 km with 2250 m+
  • Medio fondo: 94 km with 1689 m+

But that's not all! On Saturday, April 29, there is the Bra Bra Gravel Xperience: a gravel tour of your choice of 47 or 65 kilometers, with plenty of attention to the inner man/woman.

We are also organizing a give away for this gran fondo. Register now! Do so until Saturday, January 28. The following day, all registrants will receive an email with further instructions.

5. 66 Degrés Sud (April 29)

A French gran fondo, of course, should not be missing from this list. Like the Neusiedlersee RM, this relatively new event is part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. Editor Wouter Fioole was at the start last year, read his report. In addition to the road race, there is also a time trial.
