Gran fondo fans can add a new event to their bucket list. L'Étape Czech Republic is an official cycling event of the Tour de France. The course consists of a 91 km and 136 km lap with start and finish in Prague.
L'Étape Czech Republic by Tour de France will take place on June 11, 2022. It is the second year of the cycling race for amateurs and professionals. The start and finish are at the Strahov stadium in Prague after which the route goes through the green and hilly landscape of Central Bohemia. Participants will ride through the Krivoklát protected nature reserve, the Beroun region and along the Bohemian Karst.
The cycling event in the Czech Republic has two courses. One route is 91 km and the longest is 136 km. Participants must take into account some tough mountain climbs. The circuit with a length of 136 km has an altitude difference of 1900 meters. The shorter route involves 1000 meters of climbing. It is real gran fondo (a race), but everyone can set their own pace and get a medal at the finish.
L'Étape by Tour de France is a worldwide series of races under the flag of the Tour de France. These cycling events are organized in different countries, such as China, Australia, Mexico, the Netherlands and now the Czech Republic, with the aim of giving cycling enthusiasts a great experience. In 2021 L'Étape Czech Republic was organized for the first time for 3000 participants. The license of L'Etape Czech Republic lasts until 2024, so there will be at least two more events.
The event promises to be a great day, not only for the participants, but also for families and spectators. In addition to the start and finish line, the event village in Strahov also offers plenty of family-friendly entertainment that will appeal to Francophiles, including a Tour de France museum, the opportunity to sample French gastronomy, live French music and the sale of official Tour de France products.
