Short news: tragedy for Alpen Challenge, Rad am Ring cancelled

CycloWorld regularly collects short news around gran fondos and sportives. Stay tuned!

  • A tragedy for the Alps Challenge Lenzerheide. The Swiss did everything they could to be allowed to occur. The challenge will also go ahead, but unfortunately only the short distance. The Italian authorities wouldn't allow the race in their country and therefore the gran fondo has to remain on Swiss territory. But let's look on the bright side: it is happening anyhow and with the Albula pass and the Julier pass the short route is still more than worth it.
  • Bad news from Germany. Our eastern neighbors are not taking any chances. Both Rad am Ring and Circuit Cycling have been cancelled for this year.
  • Good news from France. The Paris-Roubaix Challenge will still go ahead in 2021, on 02/10. Originally, this event was moved to 2022.
  • Also the Engadin Radmarathon has had to adjust the route. The new course has 119 km with 2815m+. Until 14-6 you get a discount on a starting ticket. The gran fondo itself takes place on July 4.
  • The Alpen Challenge is not the only gran fondo next weekend. How about 3 Nacions, a beautiful GF through Spain, Andorra and France? The date: June 12.
  • In France, there is a green light for the now sold-out GF Mont Ventoux (June 13).

  • Also in France: the Galbier Challenge (13-6). A new, interesting event with a surprising route. The Galibier will be climbed from the Télégraphe side.
  • The Volta Classic Limburg announces that it will definitely go ahead with the organization. The date: 17 July.
