This is the route of the TOUR Transalp 2025

It took a while, but the route of the TOUR Transalp is finally finalized. We highlight all the key moments. If you want to participate, you can enjoy a great discount on the 3- and 4-day variants through us!

Overview of the TOUR Transalp 2025 route

Stage 1: Innsbruck - Imst (76 km / 2000 m+)

The opening stage is not particularly difficult but immediately features a big name: the Kühtai, famous from the Ötztaler Radmarathon. In the TOUR Transalp, the climb is tackled from the opposite side. After a partial descent, riders will take on the side road (known as Sattele) before descending into the Inn Valley. The lively town of Imst is the first finish location.

Stage 2: Imst - Pfunds (80 km / 2000 m+)

Today's route largely follows the well-known Roman road Via Claudia Augusta. Two climbs are on the menu: the Pillerhöhe and the climb to Spiss, the highest municipality in Tyrol. From the north side, the Pillerhöhe is certainly not as brutal as the south side, but don’t be fooled. There are quite steep sections within the 17 km. After a loop through Switzerland, the stage finishes in the new finish town of Pfunds.

Stage 3: Pfunds - Bormio (101 km / 2800 m+)

This stage is one of the two queen stages of the Transalp. The beginning of the stage takes the riders via the fairly simple Reschenpass and its namesake lake. The well-known submerged church tower of Graun is a must-see here. The peloton then heads toward Prad (Prato) to tackle the classic climb of the Stelvio. With its 48 hairpin bends, it is quite a challenge, but the breathtaking views of the Ortler massif will make up for a lot. If you're riding the 3-day variant, this is your final stage.

Stage 4: Bormio - Aprica (90 km / 2200 m+)

This stage is the first of the 4-day variant. Today, many riders will approach the ride with caution, as the feared Mortirolo features in the route. To reach it, the climb from Bormio starts with the Sasso di Prada. The Mortirolo is tackled from the dreaded Mazzo side, which is often featured in the Giro. This climb, with sections reaching 20%, is known as one of the toughest in Europe. The stage finishes in Aprica.

Stage 5: Aprica - Darfo Boario Terme (116 km / 2600 m+)

After the challenging and definitely not to be underestimated Passo Santa Cristina, riders face a long descent followed by the Passo del Vivione. This is a stunning pass with relatively mild gradients. The organizers have named this climb the 'hidden star' of the 2025 route. Take a good look around and enjoy! After this beautiful pass, riders still need to tackle nearly 400 meters of elevation gain over the Croce di Salven before finishing in the new finish town, the spa destination Darfo Boario Terme.

Stage 6: Darfo Boario Terme - Roncone (104 km / 3200 m+)

The second queen stage and the one with the most elevation gain. The centerpiece is the Passo Croce Domini. With 26 kilometers of continuous climbing (accounting for 1750 meters of elevation gain at an average gradient of nearly 7%), this will be quite a test for tired legs. After reaching the summit, there are still several climbs to overcome, with the ascent to Boniprati being the most serious.

Stage 7: Roncone - Riva del Garda (80 km / 1500 m+)

If you think the final stage is just a casual roll to the finish, think again. After nearly 20 kilometers of undulating terrain, riders face the Passo Daone. At 6 km, it’s not a long climb, but with an average gradient of 10.4%, it’s quite steep. After the descent, another 20 kilometers of rolling terrain awaits, before tackling the final climb of the TOUR Transalp 2025: the Passo del Ballino. This pass is fairly manageable and even features some flat sections. After that, it’s a straight shot to the refreshing waters of Lake Garda!
