Ten underloved gran fondos

In many parts of Europe, the holidays are just around the corner. The ideal opportunity to ride a gran fondo or make plans to do one! We really need that after such a lousy spring. If you want something different from La Marmotte, we have collected ten gran fondos that definitely deserve more attention.

1. Gran Fondo Col de la Loze (July 16)

Relatively young French gran fondo with two times the Col de la Loze, France's toughest climb. Can be perfectly combined this year's Tour which is passing by. Your GF ticket is free if you book a stay.

2. SuperGiroDolomiti (June 11)

Awesome gran fondo through Carinthia and Osttirol. Only serious gran fondo with the infamous Zoncolan in the course. Not for the faint-hearted.

3. GFNY Grand Ballon (July 9)

Well organized relatively new gran fondo in the Vosges mountains. Centrally located. Superb course and reasonably priced.

4. Tour d'Energie (April 23)

Typical German jedermanrennen. The course is fast and not too difficult. No early start, so no need to get up early. In the holidays for many readers.

5. Kitzbüheler Radmarathon (August 27)

Super tough Austrian gran fondo that has become a classic only in a few years time. Comes in a variant with or without the Kitzbüheler Horn.

6. Arlberg Giro (July 30)

Relatively small-scale and well-organized gran fondo from the ski village of St. Anton am Arlberg. Easily accesable and two wonderful climbs: Arlberg Pass and the Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse.

7. Granfondo Espace Cycles (May 7)

The only gran fondo in Belgium! Well organized, yet strangely unknown. Beautiful hilly course on the border of France and Belgium.

8. Imster Radmarathon (May 14)

Tasty season opener from Imst in Austria. Heavy, but not extreme. With the Haimingerberg, one of the region's toughest climbs.

9. UCI Gran Fondo Suisse (June 18)

Qualifier for the UCI World Cup Gran Fondo. One of the few opportunities to qualify for the World Cup as a climber. Superb course and scenery. Optional time trial.

10. Granfondo Top Dolomites (June 4)

The only serious gran fondo through the western part of the Dolomites, the Brenta Dolomites. Fabulously beautiful and not overly tough course. Professional organization. With us you get 50% discount.
