Little by little things seem to be moving in the right direction in Europe. Travel restrictions are gradually being lifted. The first granfondos are back on the road. It's time for a nice give away!
On June 20, GFNY La Vaujany will be held. This gran fondo will be organized by GFNY starting this year. GFNY organizes another gran fondo in this region, which we explain in this article. Traditionally, 'La Vaujany' always takes place one week before La Marmotte. That was the plan for 2021 as well, but La Marmotte has unfortunately been relocated to September 4.
Alpe d'Huez is at the heart of the new route. The start is in Vaujany, after which the peloton descends in a neutralized manner to the Lac du Verney. From here, the riders will start their three-staged climb to the Col de Sarenne via Villard-Reculas and the southeast side of Alpe d'Huez (the so-called truck route). The descent is followed by the second ascent to Alpe d'Huez, this time via the classic side. The participants make a loop in the village and descend again via Villard-Reculas. The extremely difficult climb to Vaujany serves as dessert. A total of 102 kilometers and 3669 meters of climbing. View the route here.
There is also a medio fondo of 56 kilometers and 2000m.
Under the participants we will raffle 2x 1 start ticket, excluding accommodation. As always with GFNY, the lime green shirt is included. All participants are required to start in this beautiful jersey. Looking for a place to stay? At our partner La Douce Montage you will be very close to the start and perfectly taken care of.
At this moment there are still travel restrictions to and from France, depending on your country of residence. Please familiarize yourself with this before registering. The permit for the race has been issued, although there is a strict participant limit. The chance that the race will be cancelled seems very small. If it does happen, your registration will be carried over to next year. Read the full COVID policy here.
All you have to do is fill out this form. The entire crew of CycloWorld and their housemates are excluded from participation. All terms and conditions can be read here. You can participate until Friday, May 21, 2021. On Saturday we'll randomy pick the winners.
The give away has ended. Peter Leegwater (NL) and Jérôme Defays (Belgium) are the winners. Congratulations lads, and all the best with your preparation.
