Food and drink

Tyrol for gourmets

The way to a man's heart is through his stomach – and this is also one of the ways Innsbruck will capture your heart. Guests are often heard singing the praise of Tyrolean cuisine. You can enjoy local delicacies in the traditional guesthouses, hearty snacks and home-cooked food in the mountain huts or haute cuisine in one of the award-winning gourmet restaurants. Alternatively, visit one of the many Italian restaurants and taste just how close Innsbruck is to its southern neighbours.

The perfect cycling location

Great options for road, gravel and mountain bikes

Region Innsbruck offers cyclists and mountain bikers a varied selection. Numerous bicycle paths crisscross the region. The roads leading to the villages and around them are well constructed. In many places, you cycle on asphalted country roads with little traffic. Do you prefer to collect altitude meters? Of course there are some challenging routes. However, many people also find enough challenge with moderate climbs.

The World Cup course and Höttinger Höll

Follow the world champions

The 2018 World Cycling Championships definitely put the cycling region of Innsbruck on the map. Never has a World Cup course been so tough and the races in the various categories were more exciting than ever. Anna van der Breggen (women) and veteran Alejandro Valverde (men) won the world championships.

The 8 kilometer climb to Igls is beautiful. Tricky with some steep sections, but for a trained cyclist doable. The final climb of the men to the Höttinger Höll has gained cult status in a short time.
