The Neusiedlersee Radmarathon is a race for fast men and women! With "only" 600 meters of elevation gain over 125 km, it is a very fast course. No big Alpine climbs, but peloton riding, powering through the wind, and pushing hard. The fastest riders average 43 km/h, and an average rider easily exceeds 35 km/h. The course is largely secured by a corridor of motorcycles.
Optionally, there is the possibility to ride the time trial on Saturday over a course of 26 km and 200 meters of elevation gain.
On Sunday, it's time for the gran fondo. The course is 125 km with approximately 600 meters of climbing.
The top 25% in each age category qualifies for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, which will be held in Australia next year.
The Neusiedlersee Radmarathon takes place in Burgenland, the easternmost state of Austria, bordering Slovenia and Hungary. Burgenland is a beautiful region with excellent cycling infrastructure. It is generally wonderfully peaceful there. And not unimportantly, the state has a mild climate, with an average of 300 sunny days per year.
Especially for companies, there is the option to ride the gran fondo as a team of 4 people, including a ranking and award ceremony for the fastest teams. You can choose the full distance of 125 km / 600m+ or the shorter version of 65 km / 300m+.
For the little ones, there are also fat-tire races in various age categories on Saturday. The perfect opportunity to introduce children to cycling.
