The Col de la Loze (2304 m) was opened in 2020. The road connects the winter sports resorts of Meribel and Courchevel. From both sides, the last 7 kilometres are car-free with some very steep passages. This col is a must-do.
In the granfondo you ride the Col de la Loze even twice. First via Meribel, the toughest side. The final climb goes via Courchevel. In theory a little easier, but not in practice. This cyclo is comparible to La Marmotte!
Besides the Col de la Loze, the gran fondo has two shorter climbs to La Thuile and Champagney-en-Vanoise. Look around, because the view over the valley is breathtaking.
Do you think this long distance is a bit too much? There are also three shorter distances: 53 km, 46 km and 30 km. A day earlier, you can loosen your muscles in a time trial to Pralognan-la-Vanoise. A beautiful climb of 26 km and 1100 m+.
Cycle Travel and CycloWorld offer a preparation trip in the French Alps for the next big top event: the Gran fondo Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains. An event with a double ascend of the most difficult climb in France: the Col de la Loze. You will stay in a super location for cycling holidays. In the centre of Vallandry lies the small-scale 4-star holiday park of Villaparcs. A perfect accommodation for your preparation and of course the granfondo itself.
