Meet our editors

Frank Minnaert

Editor France

Has a wide interest in cycling in general. Rides mostly sportives, but is familiar with the world of gran fondo's since both his sons are avid gran fondo riders. Follows gran fondo's in France and sometimes in Italy. In 2018, he participated in the only two gran fondo's of his homeland Belgium. Based in Merelbeke, the Flemish Ardennes are his training grounds.

Henk Postma

Editor Italy + new event detective

Started with cycling at the end of the 80's. Rode the longest courses of 13 classics up to 1996. After 3 years without a bike, he started discovering the high mountains from 2000. First gran fondo: Maratona (2003). Many others followed: Marco Pantani, Fausto Coppi, Marcialonga, Gran Fondo Stelvio, Ötztaler Radmarathon, Dolomieten Rundfahrt, Gruyere Cycling Tour, Les 3 Ballons en Ardechoise. The last few years have passed without GF's, but for 2021 the Dreiländergiro leers.

Guy Moritz

Editor North-America

Guy used to be 'cycling tv watcher', especially for the classics and gran tours. But his friends persuaded him to get on the bike, which infected him with the cycling virus. Next to his favourite training tour ("De Ronde Hoep"), his programme entails many sportives like the Flèche de Wallonie and the JNC. His goal is to ride at least one major event like a year. Has done quite a few usual suspects (like the Maratona, Fausto Coppi and ORM), but fancies the smaller, less-known events like Schwarzwald Super of Las 4 Cimas. Truly believes in the added value of a cold after-cycling beer.

Erik Overbeek

Editor Germany and Skandinavia

A true long distance, casual rider. Has done a few gran fondo's such as ORM, 3B, La Marmotte, Maratona, Krusnoton, Engadin and Frank Schleck. Relaxed riding and passing the finish line are the important things. Has a history of mountaineering, and hence preoccupied with the Alpes. Loves German Radmarathons with nice food stops. Enjoys both the road bike and mountainbike.

Erik van Leeuwen

Editor Eastern-Europe, Asia, Oceania & gravel

Also known as Enrico. His love for bike is born from bike packing around the world. Attach bags to the bike and discover the surroundings. Italy fanatic. Has done a few gran fondo's in his time. Has informal commitments with La Marmotte and Nove Colli.

Marcel Klapwijk

Editor Spain and Portugal

Passionate about cycling and the bike itself. Has finished many smaller and bigger gran fondo's, preferably events with much elevation. Putting on a starting number makes his adrenaline flow. A rider who can often be spotted on the forefront the peloton.

Jack Vermeulen

Editor Eastern Europe

Jack is a professional UX/UI designer. Next to his love for his family and music, he's a real cycling fanatic. The Posbank, Veluwe and greater Nijmegen region are his training grounds for both road and gravel bike. He's a usual sportive contender, and in winter time he's riding on Zwift. The road bike always comes along on summer holidays in Italy. Bucket list: Strade Bianche and the Stelvio.

Meet our editors

Wouter Fioole

Writer

Really a triathlete, but with a strong focus on the bike. Lover of short, cobblestoned climbs in Flanders, preferably in bad weather. Likes to travel to the high mountains for gran fondo's like La Marmotte, La Vaujany, L3B. Crazy enough to climb Mont Ventoux 3 times in 1 day. Thinking about ultra fondo's and randonneuring. Has to learn that riding fast and cycling are two different things.

Jean-Marie Henckaerts

Writer

Writes from his base in Geneva, where he lives and works since '96. Historically a runner, but started cycling in 2013 - a late bloomer. Started with the Tour of Flanders, followed by Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Amstel Gold Race. Began discovering the high mountains when he moved to Switzerland. Rides serval GF's and stage races annually. Palmares: Marmotte Alpes (4x), Marmotte Valais (2x), Alpenbrevet (2x), Etappe du Tour (2x), en L3B, HR Alpes en Pyreneeën. Most recent event: Tortour, a 3 day gravel event.

Peter Koens

Writer and team captain Zwift team CycloWorld

Next to his office job, Peter is a cyclist, cycling courier, indoor cycling instructor, time trialist, and peloton filler in local club races. He tries to ride at least one gran fondo, sportive or stage race a year. Avid Zwifter since the corona crisis. When he's not on the bike, he's either running or pulling weights in the gym.

Rick Groeneweg

Has been riding actively since 2019 and immediately rode top 100 at his first gran fondo (La Marmotte), growing into an active gran fondo rider competing for the podium in his category M40. As our ambassador in 2022, Rick went to Haute Route Dolomites where he finished 4th overall and took the win in his category. At the UCI World Cup Gran Fondo '22 in Trento, Rick finished 4th. In 2023 he has started to focus more on gravel and will ride several gravel races in Europe, aiming to qualify for the World Championship in Italy.
