5 cols you'll want to tick off this summer

Inspiration: that's what we need after such wet winter. Spring is just around the corner! There seems to be a good chance finally travel throughout Europe! Maybe even on a road trip? CycloWorld tips 5 cols you should not miss.

1. Colle del Nivolet

Agreed, at a birthday party you won't impress with it. Until you tell them that this Italian beast is a whopping 2632 meters high. Good for spot 10 in our Top 20 Highest Cols in Europe. But the height is actually irrelevant. This climb you do for the legendary, beautiful mountain lakes. If this one is still on your bucket list, you know what to do.

2. Cime de la Bonette

Yes, the Col d'Iseran is the higher col. But the Cime de la Bonette is ultimately higher. Does that matter? No, because this list is not about height, it's about the most beautiful cols. And the Bonette is at least as beautiful as the Iseran. The climb is excellent to ride when your camping with your familiy in Barcelonette. A beautiful climb with a tough ending.

3. Colle della Fauniera

Another Italian beauty that you must have done. Certainly not simple, and also very beautiful. Riders who have ridden the gran fondoo La Fausto Coppi , knows it. The nice thing about this climb is that you can ride it from 3 sides. The climb can be found in Piedmont, which is an excellent vacation destination. Be sure to take a bottle of Barolo home with you.

4. Passo Gavia

We'll stay in Italy for a while - because we can. If we were to make a list of the most legendary cols in Europe, the Gavia would probably be in the Top 3. For that reason alone you should climb it as far as we are concerned. Both sides are worthwhile, although the south side is the most legendary one.

5. Furkapass

Climbs don't always have to be extremely high, long or steep to be satisfying. This is proven by the Furkapass: one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland and also the setting of the famous Hotel Bèlvédere. This climb can be perfectly combined with a stopover, because you are close to the Gotthard tunnel.

Let the holidays begin!
