Belgium has traditionally been home to two gran fondo events: Espace Cycles and Velomediane. Regrettably, the latter hasn't been a true gran fondo in recent years. But there's excellent news: this year sees the addition of a new event, Gran Fondo Hard'N.
The event isn't entirely new. The MTB version has existed for some time and is returning this year. What's new for 2024 are the road gran fondo and the gravel fondo. So, no matter which bike you choose, you're in for an exhilarating experience on May 11 or 12.
There's more good news: we're offering a 50% discount on tickets for all three events.
The road race on May 11, alongside the other two events, starts in Miavoye, approximately 50 km south of Namur, near the French border. The southern Ardennes, known for its serene and relentlessly undulating roads, serves as a stunning backdrop. The gran fondo's course is challenging, with the longest route featuring 2800 meters of elevation gain over 165 kilometers, partially extending into France.
The goal is for Gran Fondo Hard'N to become a renowned event in the Benelux region in the forthcoming years. Given the caliber of the course and organization, this seems very likely. We are thrilled to see a gran fondo emerging in this region once again.
For those inclined towards dirt road racing, the Gravel Challenge, taking place on the same day (May 11), offers a captivating alternative. The 110 km route includes 1800 meters of elevation. For those seeking a less demanding challenge, a shorter 60 km route with 1200 meters of elevation is also available. The start/finish line is shared with the road gran fondo, ensuring an exciting atmosphere at the finish.
The original component of this two-day event continues. On May 12, mountain bikers will take on courses of 103km/2350m+, 81km/2000m+, or 65km/1400m+.
So, mark your calendar for the weekend of May 11 and 12! For more information, make sure to check out the event's official website.
