MTB administrator Ruurd, ambassador Rick and yours truly just happened to go skiing in the Dolomiti Superski area. So what do you do: you secretly take your bike, meet up and ride the Sella Rondje on a beautiful day. The route is basically open all year, only in case of heavy snowfall you can't ride for a few days. That usually only happens once or twice a winter in this area.

The conditions were not exactly easy, as it was quite cold during our stay. The temperature in the valley was about -8 degrees, and on the peaks it was obviously much lower. With a strong wind, we had no choice but to dress up very well. Our brand new team clothing from Castelli was immediately put to the test, and with succes!
On Strava, many followers asked us what apparel we used. Basically everything we had in the closet! Winter shoes, overshoes, thick winter pants, several thermos, Castelli Perfetto, several buffs, a rain jacket for the descent and two sets of gloves (lighter for climbing and thicker for descending). Rick was brave enough to use his summer bibshort with leg warmers. All in all, it turned out that good clothing makes all the difference, because none of the three of us were really cold.
Photos obviously say more than words!
Photo: morale is high.
Photo: snow walls on the Pordoi. The roads are deserted, what a difference from in summer!
Photo: posing for a moment on the slopes, the looks of the skiers were priceless.
