Loïc Ruffaut (FR) has become the winner of the Marmotte Granfondo Alpes. Initially, Damien Jeanjean (FR) was declared the winner because he crossed the finish line first. But after examining the timekeeping, it turned out that Ruffaut had a lower net time and thus won. Ruffaut won a minute on Jeanjean on the Croix de Fer. And Jeanjean did not make up that difference on Alpe d'Huez.
Ruffaut finished the new course in 6h32. Belgians Tim Alleman and Fredric Glorieux came 3rd and 4th respectively. Glorieux won his age group. Obviously, Ruffaut was very happy with his win:
"I am very happy to win this Marmotte 2023. I attacked from the bottom of the Croix de Fer and did most of the day on my own. After two second places and one third place, it’s an achievement to win this event. 9 years after my first podium."
Joke van Wijk (NL) won the ladies' race in a time of 8h33. Joline van Arnhem (NL) finished second in 8h51. Place three was for Swiss Claudia Kurtali.
