Glorieux wins Alpen Challenge, Hoogerland gets victory in Maraton Franja

Frederic Glorieux is no longer the eternal number 2. The Belgian of Team Grinta convincingly won the Swiss granfondo Alps Challenge. The tough ride of 194 km / 4500m+ was ridden this year in beautiful but warm conditions. The participants rode a magnificent route with the Albula pass, Maloja pass and the Splügen pass. On that last climb, the thermometer hit 30 degrees.

Glorieux managed to build up the on last climb lead of almost 2 minutes on the number 2, Matthias Studer (ZWI). Paonne Michele from Liechtenstein finished third. In ladies, there was an all-Swiss podium. Petra Eggenschwiler walked away with the win. The podium was completed by Nina Zoller (2) and Joy Wetli (3).

The Belgian was over the moon with his victory:

"It felt so good to win again after all those podiums. The event itself is well organized with a beautiful route, the lake on top of the Splügenpass was the highlight!"
