A new ultra is born, and it's a brutal one: the Ultra Cycling Tour de la Vanoise. The route: Val Thorens - Col de la Madeleine - Col du Chaussy - Col de l'Iseran - Val Thorens. Good for 320 km with no less than 8600 meters of climbing. You have 32 hours to complete this challenge. If this is not enough, you could add the Col de la Loze. Then you end up with 400 km with, hold on, 11,500 meters of elevation. There is also a shorter distance of 160 km / 4400 m. In addition, you can choose to ride the 320 km version in relay form. The date: July 3. More info on the website.
The annual summer/winter time discussion is off the table for the coming time. The EU has communicated that the topic will not be on the agenda for the time being. This is good news for the vast majority of cyclists.
Lots of news about the Haute Route series. The edition Brazil has been postponed to October 22-24. The editions Oman and Mexico have unfortunately been cancelled. Zwift enthusiasts can indulge themselves from February 26 to 28 during Haute Route Watopia.
Cycling Unlimited, a German company behind various events, hosted an information night on YouTube yesterday. You can watch the recording here back. The most important news: the Tortour leaves Oberalp out of the course out of respect for the rider who died there last year. The Alpenbrevet will have a train to the start from Fiesch.
