Short news: Marmotte, ORM, Haute Route

CycloWorld once more collected some short news from the world of gran fondos, sportives and stage races. Too short for an article of its own, but interesting enough to share.

  • The date for La Marmotte 2022 is already picked, so you can start training. Sunday, July 3, is the day. This means, as expected, a return to Sunday. This year, the edition that was moved by corona was ridden on Saturday. The organization is aiming for 7000 participants next year. Whether the ultra fondo returns is uncertain. The organization says the long course was "great success" and is "seriously considering" whether to organize another ultra fondo in 2022. CycloWorld thinks this is quite likely.
  • Talking about La Marmotte, the organization lets us know that there is nothing to report yet about the missed doping control of Raphaël Addy. The position of Cycling Classics France remains the same. The verdict of the French doping authority will be adopted.
  • Rough times for Ötztaler Radmarathon lately. This year's story is known: corona measures, a big rock on the road and bad weather conditions. Still, the 2021 edition was a success. However, for next season a new problem has risen. The Wipptal (of which the Brenner Pass is a part) is not happy. The closure of the pass leads to heavy vacation traffic, resulting in large traffic jams. Since the Wipptal does not benefit from the ORM, the locals are protesting. There is speculation about another date.
