Also this week we'll be updating you with the latest news from the world of gran fondos, sportives and other cycling events. 

• In addition to the World Gran Fondo Championship (from the UCI), there is also a European Gran Fondo Championship (from the UEC). This year, the GF Matildica (in Reggio Emilia) acts as the championship. The date: July 17.

• GFNY keeps on organizing new gran fondos. The newest addition is the GFNY Uppsala on July 10. As usual at GFNY, only the longest distance is a real fondo, this one counts 168km/1862m+. The medio fondo (basically a sportive, as there is no time measurement and/or classification) has 105km/1072m+.

• The registration for Tour d'Energie is open, a nice gran fondo in Göttingen (Harz) Germany on April 24.
  

• The well-known organizer Milestone Series let us know that in 2022 they will only organize Mallorca 312 because of the coronapandemic. That means no Bastad 198 and no Eifel 205. A pity but a shame!

• Haute Route is once again organizing a virtual challenge, in collaboration with Fulgaz. This time Mont Ventoux is the virtual venue. More info here.

• Also Band of Climbers comes with a nice challenge. The idea is to collect as many elevation as possible in 60 minutes without cycling the same roads twice. Impossible for flatlanders? Well, it can also be done indoors. Of course there are a number of rules and you can earn prizes. More info here.

• Who wants to ride the longest distance of the Alpenbrevet (the so-called Platin) should hurry up. The organization reports on Facebook that the longest distance is almost full. Note, in the past you could still choose which distance you want to ride, but that is now history since the Gold goes straight to the Furkapass and the Platin is the only one that starts with the Sustenpass.

• The registration for the Classico Boretti on May 14 is open. A nice sportive over the Dutch National Park "Utrechtste Heuvelrug" with 5 distances.
