L'Alsacienne is not the only gran fondo to return in 2023. The famous Italian cyclo La Fausto Coppi will also be back on calendar in 2023 after a year of absence.
It is unclear to this day why the 2022 edition did not occur. But it doesn't matter much, more importantly the event is back! It will be the 34th edition already. The date: 25 June. So on the same day as the aforementioned L'Alsacienne, and also the same day as La Marmotte.
The gran fondo (171 km and 4000m+) has 4 climbs. First, participants will cross the Valmala (9.6 km at 8%) and then La Piatta Soprana (6.4 km at 8%). Next comes the highlight: the Colle della Fauniera (22.3 km at 8%). This climb forms the roof of the course at 2481 meters.

But that's not all, after that, the Madonna del Coletto (7.3 km at 8%) will still have to be contested before rolling over the finish line in Cuneo, where, by the way, the start is also located.
In the medio fondo, you'll start immediately after 20 km with the Fauniera, and then ride back to Cuneo via the Madonna del Coletto. Good for 111 km with 2500 meters of climbing. Certainly not very easy either. As usual in Italy, the medio fondo is usually the most popular route.
To summarize, two magnificent and certainly challenging routes. All profiles can be found here. Normally we can expect about 2000 men and women at the start. Fun fact: all participants are required to ride in the organization's jersey, just like at GFNY.
The Fausto Coppi is top-notch gran fondo that can certainly compete with the big names in the gran fondo world. We love that the event is back. Bellissima!
