In cooperation with our travel partner Cycle Travel we offer a great trip to the next big thing in the gran fondo realm: the Granfondo Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains. With the concept Living like a pro you don't have to worry about anything except riding the gran fondo yourself.
Cycle Travel is a new tour operator that focuses on high-end cycling trips. With the Life Like a Pro concept the participants only have to worry about the cycling itself. Really everything around it is taken care of. In cooperation with CycloWorld, Cycle Travel organises trips to cyclo's. Our experience with events combined with the knowledge of the travel world of Cycle Travel.
The Granfondo Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains is the first cyclo trip we offer together. And we will certainly not stop there, expect more in the future.
This gran fondo was organised for the first time 2 years ago, but due to corona it has not gained much fame so far. This will probably not last long, because the varied route demands to become a classic. Just think: the longest distance has 117 kilometres and 4377 metres of elevation. The start is in the cosy town of Brides-les-Bains and the finish line is drawn at the Col de la Loze. The route consists of two beautiful loops through the valley of Les 3 Vallées, each with a short climb. The highlight, however, is the double climb of the Col de la Loze. First from Meribel and the final climb from Courchevel. How cool, finishing at 2304 metres. In terms of intensity, it is comparible to La Marmotte or Les 3 Ballons.
There are also three shorter versions: 53km/2424m+, 46km/2141m+, 30km/741m+. There is nothing wrong with doing these. Or to take along your cycling buddy who is a little less trained.
This col was opened in 2019 and is the most difficult climb in France. From either side it is over 22 kilometres, of which the last 7 kilometres are only accessible to cyclists. The tarmac is really perfect, but count on some very steep passages. Such a traffic-free col is unique in the world. In the Tour of 2020, Roglic defeated Pogacar here in a blistering sprint.
The area of Les 3 Vallées may well become the cycling hotspot of France in the future, because they are already working on another car-free col: La Tougnète. We have written about this before.
If you want to participate in this cool gran fondo without having to worry about the preparation, this trip is highly recommended.
