A dream in the Marche: Terre dei Varano

While Italy's Marches (Marche) region has long been a favored destination, it remains relatively undiscovered by people outside of Italy. The Terre dei Varano cycling festival (21-23 June) is an ideal chance to experience its charm.

Three-day cycling festive

From 21-23 June 2024, the Terre dei Varano event starts in Camerino. Kick off with a 5.5 km individual time trial on Friday, featuring a 300-meter climb. This serves as a precursor to the main events. After the time trial, you will have to choose. Are you up for a casual cycling tour on Saturday? Then get ready for a tough sportive of 208 kilometers with 4100 meters of elevation. Gran fondo lovers would do better to keep their powder dry and wait for Sunday, which in Italian tradition is the day when the gran fondo will be ridden.

There is a choice of a 125 km/2486m+ or 101 km/1691m+ course at the gran fondo. Nice detail: for Italians, this race also serves as the official Italian championship gran fondo. Non-Italians are of course just welcome.

Hassle-free accommodations

The organizers facilitate accommodations by connecting participants with local providers through their website. This arrangement supports local businesses and offers fair pricing without the need for major booking platforms. Highly recommended.

Explore the Marche

Terre dei Varano offers a great pretext to explore the Marche. The region boasts pristine beaches, enigmatic mountain terrains, rolling hills dotted with cypress trees, and quaint Italian hamlets. It offers an experience akin to Tuscany but without the tourist crowds. Discover the essence of La vita è bella in this picturesque setting.
