Some good news from Spain. A new gran fondo called The Millars Gran Fondo will see the light of day in 2024. This is not just any newcomer, as the event is part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series.
The UCI had long wanted to add a first event in Spain to the series. With The Millars, it has now succeeded. The starting place Vila-Real is just north of Valencia. The area is all but flat! Although the route is not yet known, the longest distance will count some 190 kilometers in which as much as 3,000 meters of climbing. Of course, there will also be a medio fondo, but details on that will follow. It is also not yet known whether a time trial will be organized.
Well, the date is certain: March 10, 2024. Nice early in the season, in other words. A great opportunity to qualify in the Spanish sun for the final World Cup on September 1, 2024, in Aalborg, Denmark. To make that possible, you will have to ride among the top 25% in your age category.
