The Finnish gran fondo Tour Lakeland (July 14 and 15) will not take place in 2023. In addition to the gran fondo, which counts as a qualifying race for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship, the time trial has also been canceled.

In an email to all registrants, organizers reported that staff shortages were the main reason for the cancellation. The number of registrations was also disappointing. The event does plan to return in 2024.
Qualification for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships is fortunately still possible at one of the other races. At the time of writing, there are still 17 opportunities before the Worlds, four of which are outside of Europe. The next one is the Neusiedler See Radmarathon (April 23), followed by 66 Dégres Sud on April 29. Both events also feature a time trial.
